As bs6231 covers sizes up to a maximum of 240mm 2 panel wire with a size ranging up to 500mm 2 which are covered under the specifications set by the csa and ul are known as bi rated cables. Very often i use tri rated 6mm2 35mm2 cables but i cannot believe the ease of using bi rated. Where it is intended to connect the cables in this table to equipment or accessories designed to operate at a temperature lower than the maximum operating temperature of the cable the cables should be rated at the maximum operating temperature of the equipment or accessory see regulation 512 1 5. The 240mm2 lugs did fit fine and edf were happy.
